Message from the Pastor, Dr. Tim Reaves

Dear Bladen Charge,

Can you believe it is August already? It seems like school just ended. Back to school time is a great time to make new commitments. Just as we prepare to go back to school by buying school supplies, school clothes, and going to bed early, we need to prepare for the new things that God is wanting to do in our lives and is calling us to commit to. As we begin a new school year, may we begin a new season of commitment to Jesus Christ. It may be to start singing in the choir, attending or teaching Sunday school or taking part in the Wednesday night ministries at your church. It may be helping a neighbor or inviting someone to church and then going by to pick them up. What commitment will a new season require of you? The Bible says that God wants to do a new thing in our lives. It will require our obedience and commitment. As we preparer to go back to school, will we also prepare our hearts for the new thing through prayer, devotions, and searching God’s Word.
Yes, we still have some vacation time left right now. I know I will be taking some during the first week of this month. We as disciples of Jesus must make sure we don’t allow the summer to turn into a vacation from following Jesus. I am ready to see what God will do in this new season for the Bladen Charge United Methodist Churches. May we not dread it, but may we embrace it and say to God, “Bring it on!” I do believe the best is yet to come and I want all of you to be a part of it. May God bless the remainder of your Summer.

In Christ,

Dr. Tim Reaves, Head Cheerleader for Jesus.
