Watch us Grow - Live Oak New Fellowship Hall

Live Oak UMC

Update 8-1-2010

Great News!  We have secured a line of credit from First Citizens Bank sufficient to complete the fellowship hall,  The Trustees finalized the paperwork last week.  This week the wainscot is being installed along with the bathroom doors and all the trim.  The cabinet order has been finalized and they should be completed and installed in the next 20-30 days.  While we are waiting for that to be done, we will paint the wainscot and trim.  We are near the end.  Of course we are still accepting donations and can use another refrigerator, stove, microwaves, tables and chairs.  Check with Janice Humphreys, 624-8286 for more information.

Update 3-1-2010

The Fellowship Hall is moving slowly at the moment as you may know.   Sheetrock is up and finished.  The major projects left to accomplish are painting and trim, flooring, cabinets and countertops, electrical and plumbing finish, and plumbing fixtures.  Duke Endowment is NOT providing any funding at this time for building projects.  We have approximately $50,000.00 worth of work that must be completed in order to receive a certificate of occupancy.  The success of the Pastalinni’s Ristorante fundraiser has provided sufficient funds for the painting and trim work.  Early March, we are cleaning building and preparing it for painting.  Painting will begin as soon as it is warm enough (several days of over 55 degree temperatures).  We have a number of fundraisers scheduled throughout the year and keep you informed on the dates.  If you wish to donate items, funds or your skills, please contact Janice Humphreys, 910-624-8286 or Delana Faircloth, 910 866-4686.  Don’t get discourages, we will get there!  This project was originally estimated at $310,500.00; between discounted materials, donated labor, donated materials and money given to the building fund, we are only $50,000.00 from completion!

Update 11-1-09
* Even though the October fundraiser was a great success (thank you all who participated!) and the sheetrock is up, there is still work to be done.  Monetary donations are still coming in and are still accepted as well as donated fixtures for the building.  With this continued dedicated service, we'll be sharing God's love and fellowship in this building by Easter.  If there is anyone who would like to donate materials, fixtures, and other supplies, contact Janice Humphries.

Update 10-12-09

Live Oak has a big Homecoming weekend in store.  On October 17th, there will be a Chicken and Rice Dinner/Auction to raise additional funds for the fellowship hall.  The latest update for the fellowship hall is this:   the heating and air is now installed!  Keep the effort going so this building can be enjoyed very soon!  A big thank your to everyone's effort and part for getting this far!  We're almost there!  The day after the Chicken and Rice Dinner/Auction is Live Oak's Homecoming Sunday.  We look forward to having regulars and visitors alike to share memories and create more memories during this very special day.

Update 9/9/09
Hope everyone is doing well today. We are excited about our Live Oak United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Construction has moved along steadily and we now have it dried in with preliminary plumbing, heating and air getting done. God has provided through the generousity of many for us to do all of this so far without debt. We have enough to pay for what is getting finished now, but we are $4,000 to $5,000 away from being able to pay for the next step which is the sheet rock. I am posting a link to a video produced by Howard Faircloth which will show the progress. If God so leads you to help with a contribution of any size please send it to Live Oak Church Building Fund, c/o Jamie Freeman, 6101 Turnbull Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28312. We welcome your prayers and support. God Bless You and enjoy the video.

 Update 8/17/09
Fellowship Building update: Our fellowship building is well underway.  Last month we went from and empty space to foundation, walls and roof.
This month the shingles, windows, doors and siding have already be added!

      Dry-In Is Complete!

Rough in electrical is being done this week 8/17. As soon as we get the estimated for plumbing, it will also be done!
Estimates for other remaining projects: flooring, bathrooms, sheet rock, kitchen cabinets, etc
are being obtained and will be finished as funds become available.

Without Duke Endowment, we knew we would not have sufficient funds when we started to complete construction, but decided to go ahead. We will complete portions of the building as we raise the funds.

We firmly believed that once building began, the donations would come.  But, I don’t think we expected the response we received a couple of Sunday's ago after the announcement that we needed an additional $12,000.00 to put siding on the building.  Building fund donations exceeded $4,000.00.

Want to know what you can do?  Pass the word along to anyone who may be interested that our building is going up and any donations are welcome.  Donations can be monetary, materials, or labor.  Can’t help with donations to the building, but are willing to help with cleanup or  fundraisers, we can use that also. Let’s work together and keep the moving toward completion of the fellowship building.
